As a licensed clergy with a Bachelor of Science degree, I have dedicated my life to helping both youth and adults overcome challenges and excel in both physical and mental aspects of life. my experience as an athletic coach and former collegiate athlete with recorded standout performances and recognition, I am committed to guiding others through uncertain times and helping them achieve their full potential.

I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor licensed through the Louisiana LPC Board of Counselors, with over nine years of experience in mental health and addiction services. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.

Throughout my career, I've served in various roles within the mental health field, including Mental Health Rehabilitation (MHR), addiction treatment (both inpatient and outpatient), and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs. I've worked with diverse populations, from children to adults, supporting them through life’s challenges, empowering them to achieve healthier perceptions of self, and strengthening their relationships.

My approach to counseling is person-centered, guided by empathy, respect, and understanding. I integrate interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to provide tailored support for each client. In sessions, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and nurturing environment where we can openly discuss life stressors and work together to find solutions.

Outside of work, I find joy in traveling, spending time with loved ones, and caring for my pets. Self-care is important to me, and I believe in practicing self-compassion—treating oneself with the same kindness extended to others. As a graduate of Northwestern State University, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science, and my Master of Arts degree in Counseling, with a concentration in School Counseling.  Throughout my professional career, I have worked in the mental health field, in various capacities, with children and adults. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and taking my three children on different adventures.

My approach to counseling is Eclectic where I provide interventions from multiple theorists.  Some of these interventions include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Lakesha has been treating mental health disorders since 2018 and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and working with people in need since 2004 in non-profit and higher education, and working with K-12 students. She received her Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at from Walden University.
