Assistant Clinical Director, Counselor, PLPC

Shannon Armstrong, PLPC

I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor licensed through the Louisiana LPC Board of Counselors, with over nine years of experience in mental health and addiction services. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.

Throughout my career, I've served in various roles within the mental health field, including Mental Health Rehabilitation (MHR), addiction treatment (both inpatient and outpatient), and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs. I've worked with diverse populations, from children to adults, supporting them through life’s challenges, empowering them to achieve healthier perceptions of self, and strengthening their relationships.

My approach to counseling is person-centered, guided by empathy, respect, and understanding. I integrate interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to provide tailored support for each client. In sessions, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and nurturing environment where we can openly discuss life stressors and work together to find solutions.

Outside of work, I find joy in traveling, spending time with loved ones, and caring for my pets. Self-care is important to me, and I believe in practicing self-compassion—treating oneself with the same kindness extended to others. My mission is inspired by my favorite quote from Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
